So, I recently crossed off my own bucket-list photographer dream by scouting out Horseshoe Bend and getting all the intel for photo sessions + elopements at this location. And let me just say, you should add it to yours! But like, your REAL to-do list, not the one that you label as “someday”. To say it was breath-taking is an understatement. The view, wind-whipped and sunbathed in light rays over vast rocky giants above still reflective waters, is transformative. It’s no wonder Horseshoe Bend is a top U.S. Photography and Elopement destination! I was in a trance- nature is such a show-off.
Literally speechless and eager to capture the beauty.
Just imagine yourself + your love on top of these glowing cliffs. PSA I’m VERY afraid of heights, and I was 100% (okay, 99%) comfortable here. There are layers to the rocks, adding texture to your photos and safety to your session- no way am I going to even let you get close to an unsafe position. We can capture the majesty of this scene & keep you completely at ease at the same time. That said, I would NOT recommend bringing small children, there are no railings past the initial viewpoint on one far edge, and I would not be OK haha. But for your own brand session, older family members, and adventurous lovebirds, Horseshoe Bend is a dream backdrop to plan a monumental photo session.
If you’re an adventure-seeking couple and love to soak up the view from the top, make this stop a priority. You can add it on to a roadtrip to the Grand Canyon (we did!) or head north to Moab (another favorite of mine!) and it will be a highlight you won’t forget. Anniversaries, elopements, families, and more- I’d love to tag along and document your time exploring together!! I’ll bring my camera, a few rolls of film, and some brewskis to enjoy over the sunset. The best part is there’s a parking lot nearby and it’s a quick and flat walk in to the viewpoint, under a mile, making it such an unusually accessible spot with such a knock-your-socks-off gorgeous view!
